Why is my friend busting my chops so badly?
I saw him last night, and I told him I was moving out of my parents house and he didn't congratulate me or offer to help me move. I've been best friends with the guy for 13 years. I was one of the first ones that volunteered to help him and his girl move into their condo, now i have an apt and he asks me TWICE on our night out......WHy so fast? Im 26, I wanted to move on, take on more, try new things, pretty much GROW. I had the opportunity and I seized it......but he asked me the same question twice like "Something had to happen?". We were in the movies before hand, and I had my phone shut off, and this girl I was talking to tried to call, so I shut the phone off, but my friend gave me a **** look. I said to him after "Dude, this guy in front of us---three rows up had his phone on the WHOLE TIME", and he said we were both as*holes, when to be honest, im a very courteous person, sometimes too courteous. I wasn't even talking on the phone in the theatre and I got a hard time for it. Plus him and our other friend ribbed me hardcore because I got a glass of chardonnay to celebrate my big week......I financed a nice new car (under a co-signer) and am living in a house, and they gave me a hard time for that and because I got something non-alcoholic because it looked cool. I was just annoyed last night because I got layed into more than usual?
Oh, and someone who knew me from years ago who worked at the place we went to after the movie came over and started talking to me and they just went silent and all they talked about was how they remembered me wiping out on a bike years ago? Actually, everytime I see someone I know or that comes up to me, my best friend jokes that im kissing their ***. What's the deal?
Do I need a thicker skin? I've took him to task and gave him a hard time many a times for him acting like a douche, because sometimes I joke with him very mildly and he gets pissy, like he can't take it back. He'll shoot something snide back.

Reply:Maybe you should be a bit nicer. And maybe then, your friend will be nice to you.
You have to be a friend to have a friend.
