RSPCA - Good or bad charity? Would you donate?

I think they are a waste of space. They spend so much money on equipping their inspectors with laptops, new vans and the big wigs at the top have a ludicrously HUGE salary!!

In a past profession of mine I have had many countless arguments with them on their policys. After one phone call to them one lady asked me if I would like to come to a meeting as she was sure that I would change my views on how they do their animal scoring, yeah right. Not a chance would I. I already know how they score animals and prices.

I have known them not come out for a horse that was tethered and the headcollar had been on so tight it had dug under the skin and the skin was healing on top of the headcollar, yet just a year ago they went to somebodys house (prob cos she was in her 50s or 60s) as she had a mouse in her house and her cat had caught it and it was half dead but this woman was terified to move so they put it as an emergncy case and an inspctor was there within 20 yes TWENTY minutes to take

Arsepca? I'm with ye all the way on this one, Kirsar. Ever since, nearly forty years ago, I discovered the heaps of dead Dogs and cats they'd left in their old "Shelter", as they relocated to a swish new building 200 yards away.

I've spoken to supporter members who threw a 'Chief Inspector' out of their home after he told them what great back handers they could get as 'Inspectors'.

About 25 years ago now, a group of Hunt Sabboteurs were thrown out of the AGM when they demanded to know why the Arsepca was killing Thousands of Dogs a week " Because they couldn't afford to keep them ", while sitting on 30 Million Pounds of banked cash.

But hey; Rolf Harris and wet kittens work, eh? Even for a money generating business with a strong, political agenda which masquerades as a Charity.
Reply:Good charity, and I would give.
Reply:you are so ignorant they help injured and neglected animals why would they be a waste of time nd i would give
Reply:I give £5 per month to this charity.I think they do a good job.
Reply:Being an animal lover myself, i would donate money to them, my mum does, i support it, as it helps animals, but then again some people may think differently..anyways, if you are thinking about donating to them, then either choice is good because of you have your own opinion, i hope this helped x
Reply:I think the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a reputable organization. They are WAY better than PETA.

But always keep in mind, that organizations, whether they are reputable or not, may abuse the money they receive. For example, FEMA who cut off hurricane victims during Hurricane Katrina.
Reply:One of the top charities in the country, sounds like you had a bad time with them, but they do good work, and i do donate when i can.
Reply:failing to see your point, any large organisation will have it's detractors, but the RSPCA to a great job overall. If you are not happy with them then simply donate to someone else.

Overall a pointless rant I think.
Reply:Find another rescue. We are at petsmart every saturday and the people that donate can come see what we do. They can see the hardship cases the money is spent on and not a salary. We are ALL volunteers. We even got a cpa to do our books as a volunteer.

It makes a difference on where the money goes when the non-profit is volunteer.
Reply:I already do donate and have done so for the past 15 years religiously! They do not get any government funding and do a bloody brilliant job with the resources they have! Instead of sitting here ranting about a necessary evil why don't you go to your local R.S.P.C.A. and volunteer to work with one of their inspectors for 24 hours? If you did that you would soon realise that every penny they get from donations is never going to be enough! There are not enough inspectors to man every hostel and that is so sad, especially as some animals will inevitably suffer, but, if everyone gave them a donation it could change. Betcha didn't think that it could be your fault some animal suffers needlessly!
Reply:no they are not worth.i have called them cause one of my neighbours used to leave his dog for a week or more alone without food, and we could hear him crying all night, and when he was in home he used to beat his dog ,and you could feel sorry for poor dog.so i called them telling evrthing ,and they just made a visit ,this person used to do the same thing to his dog ,beating him with foot ,i called them again and the answer was .ARE YOU HAVING TROUBLE SLEEPING ?STILL NOW THE SITUATION IS STILL THE SAME
Reply:I donate a fiver a month. I guess your job means you work closely with them and see failings in the inner workings. Thing is, you see this working for any big company. They have to have some directors on quite big money or they would leave and do it elsewhere for more. Nothing is perfect, but it makes me feel better to donate. As for humans first? I actually think humans have much more choices in life, and the knowledge to know what else is better. If humans were treated like some animals are, criminal proceedings would follow.
Reply:Every time i ask a question i get 50 characters to workwith. how do these people manage to get a chapter size statement in as a question?
Reply:What about the 100's of dogs each center slaughters each year?
Reply:Wow where do you get your stories from? I have donated money to the rspca and would do again. Sometimes they cant just go in head first and just take an animal.
Reply:well i think it is a great charity to donate and i would do it but it is up to you if you want or donate or not
Reply:yes i do donate to a worth while charity.and also i feel the staff deserve every penny for looking after the sick and inferm and rescue so good luck to them and keep supporting their cause.
Reply:I used to donate £10 a month to them, but stopped that when my friend (who works for a carpet- fitting company) told me that the R.S.P.C.A. had spent THOUSANDS on new carpets at their head office.

My son's girlfriend works at a pet food warehouse, and when any cans of cat or dog food is over the "best before" date, it was offered FREE to the local R.S.P.C.A shelter, who refused it, as it was not in date............. the warehouse now give the stuff to the Fox Welfare Society
Reply:Personally I'd donate, infact I have. We recently got our newest memeber of the family from them and she had been abused. if it wasn't for them taking her out of that situation then gawd knows where she'd be now...probably died of a heart attack! they are a non goverment funded charity and rely totally on public donation, without them animals wouldn't have a chance, even places like Battersea contract the RSPCA regarding criminal cases. Like everything, every area is better with dealing with things than others.
Reply:Let's make sure that human beings are OK before we worry about animals.
