Warning about magic erasers!!!?
this was in an email that was sent to me

IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN, PLEASE TAKE NOTE!!
One of my five year old's favorite chores around the house is cleaning scuff marks off the walls, doors, and baseboards with either an Easy Eraser pad, or the real deal, a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I purchased a package of Magic Erasers ages ago when they first came out. I remember reading the box, wondering what the "Magic" component was that cleaned crayon off my walls with ease. No ingredients were listed and absolutely no warnings were on the box, other than "Do not ingest."
My package of the Scotchbrite Easy Erasers didn't have a warning either and since my child knew not to eat the sponges and keep them out of reach of his little brother and sister, it was a chore I happily let him do.
If I had known that both brands (and others like them) contain a harmful alkaline or "base" chemical (opposite of acid on the pH scale) that can burn your skin, I never would have let my little boy handle them. As you can see from the picture, when the Scotchbrite Easy Eraser was rubbed against his face and chin, he received severe chemical burns.
At first, I thought he was being dramatic. I picked him up, put him on the counter top and washed his face with soap and water. He was screaming in pain. I put some lotion on his face - more agony. I had used a Magic Eraser to remove magic marker from my own knuckles a while back and I couldn't understand why he was suddenly in pain. Then, almost immediately, the large, shiny, blistering red marks started to spread across his cheeks and chin.
I quickly searched Google.com for "Magic Eraser Burn" and turned up several results. I was shocked. These completely innocent looking white foam sponges can burn you?
I called our pediatrician, and of course got sent to voice mail. I hung up and called the Hospital and spoke to an Emergency Room nurse. She told me to call Poison Control. The woman at Poison Control said she was surprised nobody had sued these companies yet and walked me through the process of neutralizing the alkaline to stop my son's face from continually burning more every second.
I had already, during my frantic phone calling, tried patting some numbing antibiotic cream on his cheeks, and later some Aloe Vera gel - both resulted in screams of pain. The Poison Control tech had me fill a bathtub with warm water, lay my son into it, cover him with a towel to keep him warm and then use a soft washcloth to rinse his face and chin with cool water for a continuous 20 minutes.
My son calmed down immediately. He told me how good it felt. I gave him a dose of Tylenol and after the twenty minutes was up, he got dressed in his Emergency Room doctor Halloween costume and off we went to the Hospital.
They needed to make sure the chemical burn had stopped burning, and examine his face to determine if the burn would need to be debrided (from my fuzzy recollection of hospital work, this means removing loose tissue from a burn location).
They sent us home with more Aloe Vera gel, Polysporin antibiotic cream, and some other numbing burn creams. By the time we got home, my son was crying again. I tried applying some of the creams but he cried out in pain. Water seemed to be what worked the best.
After a rough night, I took the above photo in the morning. He was swollen and wouldn't move his lips very much to avoid moving the skin on his taut cheeks.
Today he is doing much better. The burns have started to scab over, and in place of red, raw, angry, skin we have a deeper red, rough healing layer. I can touch his skin now, without it stinging.
So please be very careful with these sponges, you could save your child's life!

Never believe anything you get in email. Especially forwarded email. Check out any of the urban legend websites and type in the subject of the email. Chances are, its in there. Ive gotten a thousand emails forwarded from concerned friends and family. Every single one of them is bogus. check it out is you have a question.

Reply:This happened to my son yesterday,it is true,he is 14 and was outside helping paint fan blades,I was inside working, he came in after trying to get the paint off w/magic ereaser was burned on arm...some on here should research before blindly answering. The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is a miracle cleaner! I use them all the time. Usually the cleaners that clean that well have some strong stuff in them, how else would they work so well. I am glad your little boy is doing better. I hope he doesn't have any scars. Call or write in to the company. I'm sure they will print the warning on the box if they are informed.
I just researched your question and the little boy had apparently had an allergic reaction. Children's skin is much more sensitive than an adults. They changed the packaging in January to add a warning. No need to warn people any more.

I had also checked up on this story on Snopes.com and they stated that the manufacturers, that they know of and investigated, do not put chemicals in the sponges. It is meant to be a mere abrasive cleaner.

Second, you should never let a small child use a cleaning product. There's another mistake. I child can easily, easily forget that you said do not put it in your mouth. What if he got hungry or thirsty and since the product is like a block, he tries to eat it, or see's that the product is liquid and decides to drink it?
Edit: Okay, I decided to go back and read it. NEVER would poison control suggest that. So about an hour after words you decide to take the kid to an ER? Yes, now that is smart!

How do i find....?
...the artist for me??
After months of searching i found artists i'm happy with but they're miles from where i live so i have to arrange things over the phone or emails. When i say i'm black can i see some photos of work u've done on black people i get NO REPLY!!! You have to tattoo black skin different to the way you tattoo other peoples skin, thats why i asked to see pictures of their work on black skin.
I now know i could be getting no reply because they're either racist or don't have the experince to tattoo black people. They are happy to take the appointment till i say i'm black/ ask for photos of their work.
Does ANYONE in the UK know a GOOD tattoo artist that has experience with tattooing black people or dark skinned people? I know black people with tattoos but they wasn't done good!! The ink looks like it's all blurred and not filled in proper.
If any1 has any GOOD tattooist i should try let me know please and any advice with choosing a artist would b great.

Reply:Perhaps its the way your addressing your situation that leads to them not getting back. Remember many people have had legal action taken against them for racial remarks, innocent or not. If your bluntly saying something like 'I'm a black woman' then maybe they think your trying to povoke remarks out of them, or they feel that your attitude in the email reflects that of a person who isn't legally old enough to have a tatoo. Try writing something like;
'I am of a asian origin and wondered if tattoos are still clearly visable on someone with dark skin. It would be of great help if you could send me a few pictures and some information on the affectness of skin tone in relation to having a tattoo done'
Or perhaps they just don't have any pictures to email over to you. All I can say is that if someone hasn't the time and patience to liaise with thier customer to accomodate thier needs, they don't use them. Try looking at Ratemyink.com for some pictures of tattoos on dark skin. Or use a search engine such as Yahoo! or Google to help you get the help you need.
If all else fails go to a tattoo parlor yourself and talkk face-to-face with the tattoo artist.

"Well your not going to make me look good if I'm late for the first day of school, and I promised Ruby and Hazel we'd pick them up!" protested Heidi. Ruby and Hazel were her best friends for years.Ruby was the all for everything kinda girl, while Hazel like to get her way sometimes.It was the best of both worlds. Heidi was a girl who looked like she was on the cover of Cosmo Farie. She had long, beautiful, wavy, blonde hair with pale skin and blue eyes. Can I sue the police for neglegance, and making my life very difficult cause of there decisions?
I know this is going to sound fake but there is Hosptital and police records documented.
Well I will tell you the story from door close to door open 3 hours of pure torchure in a storage unit over 50$ and some baseball cards.
Well I didnt have the money or the cards to give them so 3 people straight criminal types locked me into storage unit, First the tall white boy w/bug eyes took out my knee cap w/a extending asp he hit me so hard it bent the asp and it wouldnt close,then after hitting me w a gun barrel in face they made me take off my shoes and socks and pick my teeth or one of my feet to hit w/a hammer I chose my right foot, The dark skinned man broke my foot w/a finish hammer right in the middle of my foot, then white boys girl frind and the dark skinned guy played head knees feet game where she would pick #s and whatever # he was thinking he would stomp and smash my foot into ground hit me w/gun barrel in face , or repeat hitting me w /asp in knee, finally dark skin tried to choke me out across back of a couch in unit and took torch lighters to my hands, the last thing was the 4cell maglight to the back of my head it sprayed blood all over them and the girl got scared and made me and dark skin leave, so he bound me up w tele wire and we got into my car, me passenger thank god the car was out of gas and he was so frustrated he broke my universal ignition and we got stuck at am/pm gas station cause i told him i didnt know the wiring codes, finally I said fuc_k you and started walkin to my friends down street, I called police cause they still had my car,the police found my car at storage units but it was dark an rainy and i was 100 yards away tryin to id one of them And I couldnt but it was him i gave his abbv first name and they said sorry you couldnt id him at first so he the only one here so if you want your car go get it its right there so now I got one guy who burned me w/torches not goin to jail and on the phone to the other guys tellin them I went to the police And the police left me hangin no arrests, no protection, nothin I was the scariest days of my life I couldnt even go home they said if Im at home my family will suffor to I got to many lil siblings for that, That was the everett police department 1 year ago or so i wish i could sue or something all the people involved are doin 25yrs for other crimes but its besides the point i spent 4 monthes hidin w/ no police help. I was supposed to be killed so i couldnt be a wittness but they got caught for other stuff lucky me NOT WoW Ive never told anyone other then police this do i have any rights at all????????????

You have a certain time limit or statue of limitations. Write to internal affairs. You can file a complaint against the police dept or officers which ever you want. They will investigate your story and then they will go from there. If you want more action call 7 on your side news they would take the story immediatly. Good luck..Go get them they deserve it more than the guys that hurt you. Police are corrupt about 89%. I feel the people that hurt you should be charged as well, My deepest sympothy to u I hope you are getting better.That is horrific and am appaulled at our justice system.

The following two "facts", I think aren't true. I can't remember where I read/heard the falsity of these "facts." If anyone else knows it, please lead readers to it.

Wendy is a nickname for Gwendolyn.
"Leonardo Da Vinci invented the scissors."
Vikings have been using scissors to shear sheep.
Also, being in the northern or southern hemisphere doesn't affect the way water swirls down the drain. What does affect the way water swirls down the drain is the design of the sink.

Etymologists know acronyms are a recent invention. They did not appear until around 1910 or 1920 or later.
When someone tells you a very old word ie For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge or Gentleman Only Ladies Forbidden is an acronym, the story is not true.
True acronyms are modern words such as Radar, Sonar, Scuba
