How do they know ?

Yesterday I had an appointment so I went to sort the horses out as usual expecting to be away and still reasonably clean (like every other day) by 9.

Of course this time they decided to escape into the tractor yard and give me the runaround in the mud ! I had to phone for reinforcements and ended up fixing the fence, soaked to the skin and covered in mud !

Naturally I was late.

Why did they have to choose this one time to act like prats ?

How do they know ?
That is what makes us love them!!!! LOL I have ended up in mud be for trying to hurry to feed mine to get somewhere! LOL Just had to add that dumb A$s got a pretty little dot!
Reply:Because they know you love them.
Reply:horses are intelligent - maybe they tease you because they love you.

'you only tease who you like!'

good luck
Reply:they do it on purpose.

Mine used to escape when it was blowing a gale or snowing hard.

Sunny day, no bother at all.
Reply:I think they must have overheard you making he appointment and planned to scupper your chances of making it on time.

Sounds like they have it in for you.

The question is - What did you do to them to make them hate you this much?
Reply:its like, bad luck
Reply:Because they knew you had an appointment. Horses can read minds.
Reply:don't know my 3 decided to knock there gate down from there lovely big 5 acre field , walk straight past another fresh green 5 acre field and wonder up the main road for a walk, luckily my dad happened go past they were on there way to the forest, and when we got them back god did they sulk very solemn great escape did not work!!
Reply:because they can sense that that day you would be in a rush and they maby want to spend time with you its there way of attentoin seeking
Reply:Hehe, they do know don't they.

I have actually had a goat do the same thing to me when I was interviewing for my first job out of college, ran after my car as i left, into the cattle field and was chased by cows. I had to leave my car door open with her in the nitch there and drive slowly back home to protect her from the cows. I was late for my interview but still got the job, they enjoyed the reason why lol.

I try to go early to the mules if I have something that I need them to behave for, because if im in a rush, they know it and use it to their full advantage to see me blow a cork lol.
Reply:i think mine read my mind.it always seems to be the worse time they get into trouble.my 7 year old gelding acts like a big kid and if he gets out he runs around with his tail held high and prancing like to say HA!HA!HA! but is always seems to be in nasty weather.but i love them so i just chug on fix the problem and go about my day.good luck because im sure it will happen again.
Reply:act like you have got 15 minutes and it will take all day

act like you have got all day and it will take 15 minutes
Reply:They were probally hot, or just being silly. Horses are smart animals and will tease people by doing random acts like that. They most likely love you and know that you won't mind as much as if you hate them.
Reply:Perhaps when you spent time with them the day before your appointment, they sensed your anxiety and they thought, "Oh man, something that ain't good's gonna happen. Ha! We outta here!"

They can sense your moods!
Reply:Cause they can sense your in a hurry ..
Reply:Horses are always looking to have fun. One of my horse purposely gets out, then just stands outside the fence, will walk free-lessly around the whole farm (which is huge). Sometime he even goes to see the other show barn down the road. He is like a big dog. When you call his name and shake his grain, he comes. WE just let him because he will just keep getting out. If we stall him, he will break them. One morning I went out to feed and I stepped outside my door, and he came sneaking around the side of my house, and he just stopped and stared. He got out of his stall and just roamed around till morning.

What a funny beast.
Reply:They can sense that you had to be away early, little buggers arent they x
Reply:Even though you probably didn't realize it... You were trying to rush to make it on time... and usually, when you act in a different way around horses.. they tend to pick up the vibes. You also probably got frustrated with them quicker wich only gave them an excuse to act like they did...

Sorry you were late for your appointment... Ah the joys of horse ownership. LOL
Reply:Don't we just love em.....
Reply:mine always do stuff like this on a day when i have something planed right after my ride they kno when im in a hurry
Reply:they sense your "stress"...or maybe they were just feeling "frisky" LOL
Reply:Because thats why we love them. They will know that you are in a rush and haven't got time to mess around. They are fine tuned to you and your body language.
Reply:LOL!! I remember one time going down to my horses early one morning before work, my friend who usually turned them out in the morning couldn't get there, so I thought yep, no problem, I had the keys to my work, so I couldn't be late, as no-one could get in otherwise, figured it would only take me minutes to turn out four horses, and fill the haynets and water.. everything was on schedule, and i looked up to the field to wave 'bye-bye' and guess what? no sign of any horses, and not just our four... couple of minutes later, I heard loads of shouting from the golf course over the back of the field.. my horse (obviously!!) had led a very succesful escape!!! it took me %26amp;the only other girl down on the yard HOURS to catch 9horses!! ..3of them had broken away from the gang and had decided to go to the villiage to raid whatever shops they could.. I got to work about 4hours late!!!! NIGHTMARE!!! horses eh??? lol!!
Reply:Because horses get spooked or go in heat. they may have had a little extra energy trust me my horse used to do this all of the time but i was firm and he learned fast.
Reply:haha aww well thats why we love them isnt it?

i was trying so damn hard to pull my horses feed bin(made out of 2 tyres and steel) under the fence today and it wouldnt budge. all of a sudden my horse grabs it and pulls it thorugh i dont know if he was hungry or he knew what i was doing?? ive only had him for a week, hes my first horse!!!

i do have to admit i believe he was helping me :)
Reply:Despite how they might look horses are NOT intelligent! They have difficulty jumping poles that my spaniel cross 3 year old will bounce over, they injure, maim and destroy all around them. They eat you out of house an home, s hit the yard full, pisch like Niagara Falls, wreck new rugs, throw new shoes trash new boxes and roll on new saddles. They bump, brake, bite crush and kick us, they fill us with false securities. They put in dirty stops, drop shoulders, double bounce, fling, fire and feck us all over arenas fields rivers and mud patches!

I sold mine and am delighted ever since!

There are 2 types of people that horses....Millionaires and Fools!
