I know variations of this question has been asked a HUNDRED times but I really need help! I'm auditioning for a local play. My range is about F3 to D6 (on a good day=) I can't do a duet. Here's a copy of the poster:

Reply:Well, I've never heard of this show so I'm not sure what the character is like that you are auditioning for so just going on songs for about your age I would suggest:
The Girl I Mean To Be - Secret Garden
Much More - The Fantasticks
I Always Knew - Annie Warbucks
Little Lamb - Gypsy
When I Get My Name In Lights - The Boy From Oz
Born To Entertain - Ruthless
Anything's Possible - Seussical
I Want More - Lestat (may be too low %26amp; subject is hard core...)
You'll have to figure out if any of these go along with the character and your voice :-)
Break a leg!
Reply:Hi!! This is a nice opportunity to act, and I will give you songs which suited me when I was about your age because I'm soprano too.
- On my own - Les Miserables.
- I Dreamed a Dream - Les Miserables.
- Somewhere over the rainbow - The wizard of oz.
- Defying Gravity - Wicked. (duet).
- The wizard and I - Wicked (it's awesome and fun to do because you act at the same time).
- As long as you're mine - Wicked (duet).
- Out Here on my own - Idina Menzel "Fame".
- Someone to watch over me - Crazy for you.
- What Is this feeling? (Loathing) - Wicked. (duet).
- Think of me - The Phantom of the Opera (a real challenge, it's really opera so I don't highly recommend it).
- My Strongest Suit - AIDA.
- Every Story is a Love story - AIDA.
- Let's play a love scene - Fame.
- Popular - Wicked.
These are some that can work with you, and they are all from Broadway musicals, and some like from Les Miserables or Wicked are not only beautiful but in Wicked they are really fun to perform, because you can act at the same time.
Try to sing them and see which one suits you the best, but you will see they are really beautiful, and in the future when you audition for other theatrical productions then you can use one of them. They are also a great way to warm up, but if be careful because you don't one to get hurt before performing, use one that's not that hard.
I hope you get a part, I hope these songs are useful because they worked on me, and wish you luck!! Let us know how it went, if you need any help, post another question and I'll answer.
Reply:I'd go with the first answer. None of the songs in the second one seem right for a 12 year old. Plus, aren't Wicked and Les Mis way over done anyway?
