Im 20 and I have skin cancer of the vulva...please help, treatments recommended?

I am healthy (I thought) I have never smoked and dont drink often, I dont tan in beds and have no reason to have this cancer, I just got diagnosed on Tues, they dont know what stage it is but all it is, is a small white area of skin that kinda itches, somtimes there are little bumps. No real pain, yet. What treatments are availible to me? I dont have a Dr. appt with a specialist until the 25th, and they wont tell me things over the phone. Is lasor treatment good, or just surgery? Will treatments hurt me alot? What side effects are there? Any other advice? PLease.Thank you.

I had my vulva removed since they thought it was cancer. I was very lucky that it wasn't. It's not rare to have cancer there but it's not well known. And most people are just dumb when they hear skin cancer and think it only comes from the sun. I can tell you the surgery wasn't that bad at all, I recovered fast. Treatment for the cancer will depend on the kind of cancer and what stage it's in. Radiation might me a good choice for you, it will just be rather embarrassing to have the treatment done. 14 years I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I had radiation and it was rough, but I came through it, I had allot of faith in my Lord Jesus Christ that I would be taken care of. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Try not to let others answers upset you, they don't know any better.
Reply:what have you been doing???
Reply:Look it up at Webmd.com, also check at the many sites that deal with cancer, that should help you. You may have this cancer in your family, not every cancer is caused by the smoking/diet thing. Whatever it is and whatever they tell you to do, do it, caught early enough, you will be fine, left alone it never gets better.
Reply:The WebMD suggestion is a good one.

Next time, use more sunblock when you sunbathe, even under the swim costume if you wear one.
Reply:Talk it over with your fam. and Doctor. Untill then just try and take a few deep breaths, there are many treatment options for cancer, alot of them do involve kemo and radiation. Only you and your doctor can come up with one thats right for you. Good luck.
Reply:your doctor knows whats best to treat you. treatments don't hurt. Just wait for your appt apply the cream your doc prescribed.
