I have this plantar wart on the bottom of my foot. I have had it forever. It has never bother me at all. Well I talk to the doctor on the phone and she told me to put compound w and duct tape of it. Now I have whiteish skin(like dead skin) around it.
I made an appointment for tomorrow (march 26) and 9am. I am sooooooo nervous. I hate pain, I do not like and I avoid doing anything that involves pain. What is she going to do? This is the first time she will see it.
Please help and calm me down.
Nervous-Wart question?
That Compound W and most other wart treatments are really just acid. So that's literally what you have: dead skin. The way that kind of wart treatment works is to slowly kill the wart with acid. It's kind of gross because each new application of the Compound W (or whatever) eats away some skin too.
If the wart has never bothered you, why are you treating it now? Warts on your feet are typically called "plantar's warts" (if I remember correctly).
Your doctor will probably give you different options for treating it. A common one is to use liquid nitrogen to freeze the wart (same effect as the acid: kills the wart and surrounding skin). Another treatment is basically a fancy way of using Compound W: go to the doctor about once a week, and he'll apply the acid and also scrape away the dead skin. I had a wart removed from the bottom of my foot via outpatient surgery: I got a few shots in my foot to numb the area, then I think the doc basically used a torch to cut it out.
Unfortunately, none of these treatments are particularly pain-free. But, none of it is unbearable pain. I'd opt for the freezing treatment or the surgery like I had: you only experience pain for a short amount of time, and then it's all over.
Reply:UGH! yuck-o! maybe next time you use a public shower, you'll wear flip flops......ugh!
Reply:Dead skin is normal, you have done right procedure, now you just need to see if it is coming off ok. THe doctor will check, you will be fine. Should not be any pain at all.
Reply:I have been through this b4, but i had them on my fingers and i got it off with duct tape, i had to change them everyday for 2 months and it got rid of it, but the only problem is i have them on my feet too and they wont go away... so yea weird
